People who have CBD love to talk about its calming effects. But this does not make it a sure victory for ADHD because:

A study of 30 adults with ADHD found that those who used a 1: 1 CBD / THC mouth spray had mild improvements in impulsivity and hyperactivity compared with the placebo group. But the researchers said the CBD mixture did not appear to make any difference in cognitive function.
Another study of 59 patients reported high doses of cannabinol (CBN), a compound other than cannabis, with lower self-reported ADHD symptoms.
However, a recent review of 23 studies found enough evidence to give CBD a grade B (“moderate”) recommendation for use against ADHD.
Scientists are still trying to decode the role of CBD in the endocannabinoid system, a lush network of neurotransmitters that influence everything from appetite to memory. CBD seems to influence these neurotransmitters, which explains why it is promoted as a remedy for all things.
We cannot stress enough that research is let’s go. But current evidence suggests that CBD may:

- Pregnant or lactating people. If it’s you, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says you should avoid CBD and other cannabis-based products.
- Children. Previous research in 2014 linked cannabis use in childhood and adolescence to a higher risk of cognitive impairment. It is difficult to determine whether this was caused by a particular cannabis compound (THC, CBD, CBN, etc.) or by cannabis in general. If your child has ADHD, talk to your doctor before offering CBD.
CBD could be a low-risk remedy for stress, anxiety, sleep problems, and headaches in general. But remember, this is not an approved ADHD treatment.

- CBD is not strictly regulated. The FDA does not place CBD products under the same microscope it uses for prescription drugs. It’s still a bit of a wild west out there. Companies can sell bad products, or even good products with false claims.
- CBD research is still going on. We could learn more about the effects of CBD on ADHD any day. For now, do your due diligence and talk to your doctor before adding CBD to your routine.
- CBD products vary widely. This can be a pro or a cons! It may take some time (and $) to find the best CBD product for your tastes, budget, and goals.
Bottom line: Only you and your doctor can decide if you should take CBD oil, or any other CBD product! – for ADHD.

Research on CBD for ADHD is still very limited. We need more studies to understand the extent to which this cannabis compound can crush hyperactivity, impulsivity, or lack of concentration.
