CBD biomass prices in the US remained stable in December, but are still significantly lower than in the previous December.
Published a few days before Christmas, the Hemp Benchmarks December Hemp Cash Price Index report states that global CBD biomass prices appeared stable in the last month of 2021, maintaining a 13% gain in November, the price was still down about a third compared to December 2020.
Rates of CBD extracts generally fell in December, and while refined hemp oil, specifically THC-free distillate without THC, rose again in December, all other types saw declines.
It was a happier image for the prices of CBG products; most of which rose again for the second month in a row. Although the prices of feminized CBD seeds and CBG seeds have risen, this is not uncommon at this time of year, as most purchases are for indoor and greenhouse use, and these buyers often buy smaller quantities at higher prices.
The prices of the controversial cannabinoid Delta-8 THC are also experiencing downward pressure, with Delta-8 THC distillate falling for the sixth consecutive month. It was similar news for the Delta-10 THC Distillate, 13% less than in November.
As for CBN isolate, the average price in December was $ 3,630 per kilogram, down more than 5% from November.
Smoky CBD flowers grown indoors and in the greenhouse also suffered another drop, while bulk flowers grown outdoors rose 2% in November. But overall, the smokableCBD flower looked a better year. Hemp Benchmarks notes that the average annual CBD flower was $ 265 per pound. In 2020, the average annual price was just $ 185 per pound.
Looking to the future, Hemp Benchmarks says high prices for traditional row crops are among the first signs that hemp acreage may not recover this year after being contracted in 2020 and 2021.
No prices are offered for nationally grown hemp fiber, but Hemp Benchmarks notes that while processing infrastructure and supply chains are developing in the U.S., concerns about the current viability of end fiber markets persist.
