The ninth episode of the Legacy The documentary series is part of a seven-day sequence of seven MARLEY77 events, to commemorate what would have been the 77th anniversary of MARLEY77. Bob Marley.
The Marley and UMe family will return to their roots to honor their lives, legacy and music with a variety of face-to-face, virtual and philanthropic events, culminating on Sunday (6). Marley was born on February 6, 1945.
Scheduled events have been curated to pay tribute to the community in his home country, Jamaica, in commemoration of Marley’s birthday. They include the Back to our roots beach and concert cleaning and a recently curated exhibit at the Bob Marley Museum. The 7 Roots of Bob Marley’s Life presents the work of young and emerging artists.
A new web series of this name will be released on Tuff Gong TV, exploring the legend of reggae and its enduring influence in Jamaica and the world. On Sunday, Marley’s Earthstrong festivities culminate in a limited-capacity concert at Tuff Gong International in Kingston, Jamaica, which airs live on Bob’s official YouTube channel. On the same day, February 6, a Lion’s Den concert will also be released from Miami by his son Stephen Marley. The festivities can be seen here.
The ninth episode of the 12-part documentary series nominated by Webby Legacytitled Dreams Of Freedom, premiered at 7:00 PT / 10: 00 ET, also on Marley’s YouTube channel, and is now live. He highlights his aspirations for Tuff Gong International to become the “Motown of reggae” and his spirit of self-sufficiency.
The ninth installment of the series includes Marley’s voice, as well as interviews with his wife and the matriarch of the Marley family, Rita Marley. Children Cedella, Ziggy, Julian, Rohan, Ky-Mani and Damian have granddaughter Donisha Prendergast, I-Threes members Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt, among others.
The Marley brothers reunite
Tomorrow (4) a version of Bob of the Marley Brothers (Ziggy, Stephen, Damian, Julian and Ky-Mani Marley) will be released “Cornerstone”, releasing music together for the first time in over a decade. The day comes before the brothers lead the CaliVibes Festival in Long Beach, California, to celebrate their father’s birthday. “Cornerstone” will be available on Ziggy Marley’s Tuff Gong Worldwide and Stephen Marley’s Ghetto Youth.
Ziggy will also be offering an exclusive live broadcast of her May 30, 2021 special tribute concert at Petco Park in San Diego. It will be available for broadcast on Friday, February 11, and details are available at ziggymarley.com.
Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio on SiriusXM Channel 19 will air Bob Marley Roots 77th Anniversary Concert, recorded at Tuff Gong International Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. Released live on February 6, it will be available on the Sirius app from the 7th. It stars reggae, roots and dancehall legends and contemporary stars such as Marcia Griffiths, Bugle, Amanyea, Tony Rebel, Gyptian, Queen Ifrica and Black Am I, all of them receiving a tribute.
Also recently announced is Marley: A Family Legacy exhibition at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. It tells the story of a new artistic generation of the family, with highlights including Cedella Marley’s Catch A Fire custom clothing suits, Ziggy and Ky-Mani Marley’s Ovation guitars and Julian Marley’s Dashiki top as leads to the cover of his cover. Like me album. There is evidence of Damian Marley’s album Distant relatives, an Rita Marley I-Threes dress and wrapper, and a custom Bob Marley tribute edition Gibson guitar.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in an interactive drum lesson and “Learn to play reggae drums with Santa Davis.” The great reggae drummer has worked with Bob Marley, Augustus Pablo, Peter Tosh and many other Jamaican reggae artists. He has been playing drums with Ziggy Marley and his band since 2003 and is one of the innovators of the unique Jamaican drum style.
