SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California – The 2022 Cannabis Revenue Grant Awards were announced during South Lake Tahoe City Hall on Tuesday. At a previous meeting, the Council approved the distribution of $ 400,000 through a grant program, the equivalent of half of the cannabis revenue received by the City Council last year.
This program provides funding opportunities for local schools, government agencies, and nonprofits with programs or projects designed to mitigate the potential impacts of the cannabis industry in South Lake Tahoe and also promotes the priorities of the City Strategic Plan. Interested parties could have applied for a grant of between $ 1,000 and $ 50,000, and the City Council received 23 applications.
The mayor, a member of the city council’s finance committee, the city administrator and the city’s chief financial officer reviewed the applications and decided to award 14 projects that were more consistent with the criteria, for a total of $ 399,650. Ten are offered with the amount of the original application, four with a different amount.
